For those desiring the overall younger looking appearance a facelift provides but who don’t want to go under the knife, a nonsurgical facelift is an ideal option. Each procedure can be custom tailored to the needs and wants of the patient. While the results will not be as dramatic or long lasting as a surgical facelift, you will look considerably younger, and you will have little to no downtime. This option is ideal for those with moderate signs of aging, those considering a facelift but not certain they will love the results, or those who want to put off surgery a few more years but want something to hold them over in the meantime.
Treatments involved in a nonsurgical facelift
Your doctor will perform a detailed assessment of your face and determine which areas are showing signs of aging and what can be done for those areas. Once this is completed, an action plan for your nonsurgical facelift can be developed.
Dermal fillers
Dermal fillers serve a dual purpose: they fill out areas of the face, thus minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and they deliver deep hydration to skin which further helps reduce the appearance of signs of aging. They can also minimize the appearance of hollow or sunken-in areas such as under the eyes. Dermal fillers come in many different formulations; some are more suited to “heavy traffic” areas like crow’s feet or forehead lines, while others are more suited to more delicate areas, such as under the eyes. If the lips have lost volume from age (or you just would like more full lips overall) lip fillers can be used as well. Your doctor will determine which areas of the face could benefit from fillers.
Botox
Botox is another injectable anti-wrinkle treatment option; however, it uses very different methods from dermal fillers. Botox works by immobilizing the muscles that are responsible for deeper lines. These deep lines, dynamic wrinkles (meaning they’re only present during movement of the area in question), eventually turn into static wrinkles (wrinkles that are present even when the face is at rest). Botox can help prevent the appearance of dynamic wrinkles, and, in the long run, can prevent or delay the formation of static wrinkles.
Other treatments
Other rejuvenating treatments are often performed along with a non surgical facelift as well. One such popular treatment is microdermabrasion. This renews the facial skin cells for an overall rejuvenated look. For those with large pores, laser resurfacing is a good option. Chemical peels can tighten the overall look of the face, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and shrink pores. Finally, for a deeper refresh, ultrasound or radiofrequency treatments like Ultherapy can provide amazing overall results as well.
